Nebraska uses Isaiah Roby's major performance to take down Northwestern
Saturday night was one to remember for Nebraska junior forward Isaiah Roby.
The Huskers posted their second straight win on Saturday, defeating Northwestern 59-50 in Lincoln, thanks to a huge performance from Roby. The forward finished the night with a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 16 rebounds in the game. But that wasn’t all, Roby also registered five blocks and two steals in the victory.
Roby did a little bit of everything on Saturday night.
“Boy, he ended the game with a flourish,” head coach Tim Miles said after the game. “I just thought he was terrific tonight.”
Entering the game, Roby was averaging 11.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest. He’s had a nice season, but hasn’t put together a mammoth performance like the one he had against Northwestern this weekend. And it was much-needed, as the Huskers are trying to rescue their NCAA Tournament hopes in the final weeks of the season.
Nebraska and Northwestern went back and forth through most of the game, but the Huskers used an 11-0 run late in the contest to grab a 53-41 advantage with just under four minutes to play. The Wildcats didn’t get any closer than eight points after that.
With the win, Nebraska is now 15-11 on the year with a 5-10 mark in the B1G. Though the schedule isn’t exactly favorable, playing four ranked opponents in its final five games, Nebraska will have a chance to notch some marquee wins before the B1G Tournament.
