The news of Urban Meyer’s retirement wasn’t only huge for the staff and players currently in Columbus, it was a significant announcement for several recruits who had already given their commitment to Ohio State.

While this kind of coaching change can certainly lead to a change of heart among some of the nation’s top players, the Buckeyes have done an excellent job keeping their 2019 group intact. That includes 5-star offensive lineman Harry Miller.

According to Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts, Miller is still set on joining Ohio State and plans to sign on Dec. 19, the first day of the Early Signing Period.

From Kurelic:

Buford (Ga.) offensive lineman Harry Miller and his mother Kristina and father Sean have been and continue to be very close with Urban Meyer. So, on Tuesday, Dec. 4 when Meyer announced his retirement the news reverberated down to Buford and hit the Miller’s hard. Harry did not issue a statement, he turned his phone off until he could get home and talk things over with his mother and father.

The Miller’s knew the news was coming as Meyer called them on Monday, Dec. 3 to let them know where things were likely headed. But dealing with the reality was not easy. The fact that Ryan Day being named to take over for Meyer after the Rose Bowl was huge to the Miller’s.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, Day made an in-home visit with Harry and his family. That visit went very well. Kristina followed up with a talk with Day on the phone on Sunday night. And now there is no longer any question in regards to Harry being a Buckeye. According to Kristina, Harry will sign with the Buckeyes on Dec. 19.

Miller is ranked as the second-best center in the 2019 recruiting class and is the sixth-best player out of Georgia. Overall, Miller is ranked No. 31 by 247Sports.

Ohio State currently has the ninth ranked recruiting class nationally and No. 1 in the B1G. The Buckeyes currently have 16 commitments.
