Buffalo Wild Wings catching heat for tweet mocking Columbus, Urban Meyer
Buffalo Wild Wings might be losing some of its Columbus clientele because of a tweet sent out following the Columbus Blue Jackets’ first NHL Playoffs series win.
On Tuesday night, the Blue Jackets defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 7-3 in Game 4 of the first round of the NHL Playoffs, sweeping the series. It was the first time the franchise has won a playoff series, certainly an accomplishment worth celebrating.
After the win, though, Buffalo Wild Wings decided to send out a tweet that took a job at Columbus, Ohio State and Urban Meyer.

“Congrats on your first ever series win, Columbus! That’s gotta take the sting out of Urban leaving,” the tweet read.
Meyer, of course, decided to retire from his post as head coach at Ohio State following the 2018 season.
There is one major problem with Buffalo Wild Wings tweet — the restaurant change was founded in Columbus in 1982. You’d think they’d be a little bit more supportive of the city and Ohio State.
Needless to say, that tweet wasn’t received very well by folks around the city. Here are some of the responses:

Urban was absolutely at the game — and didn’t sit down at any point pulling for the win. What a bizarre take from BWW.

Buffalo Wild Wings might have to have a conversation with its social media person before the next series.
