Following Saturday’s action, we will already be one-third of the way through the B1G schedule. While it’s still early, the contenders for the conference – and for the College Football Playoff – have started to separate themselves.

If they had been able to play in Week 2 and Week 3, Wisconsin may have solidified its standing as the No. 1 team in the West. Unfortunately, the Badgers’ season remains in question as the team continues to wrestle with a COVID-19 outbreak.

For Ohio State, the Buckeyes have done all they can in the first two weeks of action to cement themselves as one of the best four teams in the nation. Ryan Day’s squad has looked good on both sides of the ball in double-digit wins against Nebraska and Penn State in starting 2-0.

That start by Ohio State has the team looking as “a lock” for the CFP in the eyes of Lee Corso. Discussing the CFP outlook Saturday morning, Corso believes the Buckeyes, along with Alabama, are the two locks for the Playoff.

The rest of the field will come from Clemson or Notre Dame and an undefeated Pac-12 champion:

“Alabama and Ohio State appear to be a lock for two spots,” said Corso. “Clemson and Notre Dame are fighting for the No. 3 spot. The Pac-12’s unbeaten team will be in play for spot No. 4. Kirk, it’s 2020, anything can happen.”
