The answer to this question seems simple.

Is Tyrod Taylor worth $30.75 million in guaranteed money? Most would say no.

The Buffalo Bills have roughly one month to decide if they will pick up Taylor’s costly option or let him go into free agency. If Taylor does go into free agency, what will the Bills do at quarterback next season?

Well, according to Pro Football Talk, Bills General Manager Doug Whaley believes that Cardale Jones could be the team’s next signal caller. Pro Football Talk cited Vic Carucci of buffalonews.com, as Carucci said the thought of the former Ohio State quarterback becoming the starter would be appealing to Whaley.

It seems as though NFL teams and their scouts aren’t in love with the quarterback class coming into the 2017 NFL Draft. If Whaley, who calls the shots in Buffalo, isn’t enamored with any of the options in the draft, his fourth-round pick from a year ago in Jones could be the man in charge.

The former Buckeye and national champion played in just one game his rookie season – Week 17 against the New York Jets – and completed 6-of-11 passes for 96 yards and an interception with no touchdowns.

Another option for the Bills would be to go after New England Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo has been talked about as being on the trading block as the Patriots are reportedly looking for at least a first-round pick in return, but let’s be honest.

Would the Patriots trade a quarterback they believe in to a team in its own division potentially desperate for a quarterback? I doubt it.

Jones of course led the Buckeyes to its 2014 national title after entering the season as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart. After Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett went down with injuries, the 6-foot-5 man from Cleveland led Urban Meyer’s bunch to wins over Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon down the stretch.

He then decided to come back for his senior season at Ohio State and ended the year with 1,460 passing yards, eight touchdown passes and five interceptions. Jones completed 62.5 percent of his passes and ran for 193 yards and two touchdowns as well.

He started just 11 games in he college career.
