Ryan Day wants to explore ways to 'Spread out' NIL money earned by marquee stars
The new NIL rules have created a multitude of opportunities for college athletes across the nation. Ohio State is a program filled with plenty of star players that can capitalize.
However, during Friday’s edition of B1G Media Days, Ohio State coach Ryan Day hopes there’s a way to distribute the new-found wealth his elite players are in line for.

Asked about name, image and likeness, Day said OSU has unmatched opportunity. He’d like to find ways to spread the money that will go to the stars at marquee position throughout the team.

Ryan Day says they might need to make changes to the NIL rules in the future. “We do need to consider how do we spread some of that money out.”

“Those things happen and will come naturally, but I do think we need to consider down the road, somewhere along the line, maybe it’s a year from now, figuring out how we spread some of that money out,” Day said. “Certainly the quarterback at Ohio State is going to have unbelievable opportunities, the wide receiver, the running back, there’s going to be certain positions.”
Day believes the players who do the dirty work should be rewarded by their compensated teammates.
“However, how do we find ways to make sure we disseminate that throughout the team?” Day asked. “Because there’s a lot of guys out there who are also playing football, guys who are blocking for the quarterback, guys who are covering the wide receivers.”
Ohio State kicks off the season on Sept. 2 at Minnesota.
