Ohio State will take on in-state opponent Akron in a Week 4 matchup. Ohio State already announced that starting quarterback C.J. Stroud will get the game off while he recoups from a shoulder injury.

Ohio State is off to a 2-1 start to the 2021 season. Ohio State bounced back from a Week 2 loss vs. Oregon with a 41-20 victory vs. Tulsa. Ohio State hosts in-state opponent Akron on Sept. 25 (7:30 p.m. EST) and the matchup will be televised on the BTN.

Ryan Day says C.J. Stroud has taken the last couple of days off of practice due to his shoulder injury and Ohio State is planning for Kyle McCord and Jack Miller to play at quarterback on Saturday with Stroud available in an emergency capacity.

Ryan Day said Greg Studrawa wasn’t at last week’s game, but he is back in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center now. He said Studrawa was still watching film and talking to his players remotely, but Kevin Wilson and graduate assistant Kennedy Cook stepped up while Studrawa was out.

Day says that after talking with Stroud about his shoulder, he thought it would be best to shut him down. Day says Stroud said he had a “feeling he couldn’t shake,” and that rest might be the best thing for him.
