Ayron Monroe decided to leave Penn State but he’ll remain in the state of Pennsylvania to complete his college football career.

Thursday, Monroe announced via Twitter that he’s transferring to Temple to complete his career. As a graduate transfer, the safety will be immediately eligible for the Owls in 2019 and has just one year of availability left.

“On a mission to reach the point in which I stand before my vision,” Monroe said on Twitter.

Monroe played in 33 career games with the Nittany Lions, including 12 last fall. He appeared on both defense and special teams throughout his career. He registered 40 tackles, including 2.5 stops for loss.

Monroe was a member of Penn State’s 2015 recruiting class, but redshirted in his first season in Happy Valley. He will join a Temple team that finished 8-5 last year, but is under new leadership as Rod Carey replaces Geoff Collins as head coach.
