Former Penn State quarterback Todd Blackledge has been elected into the Sugar Bowl Hall of Fame. He is one of 10 members receiving the honor this year.

This is just the second year the AllState Sugar Bowl has selected a Hall of Fame class.

Blackledge led Penn State to a national championship in the 1982 season, thanks to a brilliant performance in the 1983 Sugar Bowl. He threw for 228 yards and had a game-winning 47-yard touchdown pass to Gregg Garrity in the Nittany Lions’27-23 win over Georgia.

He will be recognized during the 2019 AllState Sugar Bowl, which will be played on Jan. 1. Texas and Georgia will be the two teams competing.

In 1982, Blackledge won the Davey O’Brien Award, presented to the top quarterback in college football. He threw for 2,218 yards and 22 touchdowns that season. Penn State finished the season 11-1.

Blackledge is now a college football commentator for ESPN and ABC.
