Penn State readying 11 early enrollees for 2020
At this time of year, some recruits still need to make a decision on which school they want to attend. For others, they may have already chosen a destination.
They may have already signed with a program. They know where they’re going to school in the fall. But, a select few are enrolling early.
At Penn State, 11 members of 2020 recruiting class are enrolling early and are arriving on campus this weekend:
The Penn State football roster will expand this weekend, adding 11 early enrollees representing seven different states and two countries.

Here’s Joe Johnson, a 6-foot-2 cornerback for the Nittany Lions who is enrolling early:
“We’re about business,” four-star cornerback Joe Johnson told Lions247. “We’re trying to come in and win a national championship. We’re trying to come in and win the Big Ten, trying to take over. We’re trying to be the best Penn State team ever. With that being said, we’re coming in with a mentality to work, to win, to fight. We’re ready.”
What’s the point in enrolling early? Well, there are quite a few advantages. One, you’re able to start school earlier. You’re able to get used to campus, being a college student and being around teammates. If you can get an advantage and be more comfortable by the time fall rolls around, it can help jump-start the transition process from high school to college.
Running back Noah Cain, for example, was an early enrollee. All he did was rush for eight touchdowns, marking a new Penn State record for a freshman.
The 2019 season may be over for the B1G, but we can’t wait for Spring Games to roll around here in just a few months.
