The goal of hosting a pro day on campus is to give student-athletes a chance to impress NFL scouts before the draft with the hopes of pursuing a career at the professional level. But if that doesn’t work out for some Penn State football players, they may have some other options.

The official Twitter account of Penn State football mentioned that, along with NFL scouts in Happy Valley on Wednesday, scouts from the WWE, XFL and CFL were also present. This is the second straight year the WWE has made the trip to Penn State’s pro day.

It’s not uncommon for former football stars to earn a career in the WWE. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson played at Miami, Bill Goldberg played at Georgia  before having great careers in professional wrestling.

There are plenty of other examples, as well.

Plenty of former Penn State stars participated in the pro day on Wednesday, including Trace McSorley, Miles Sanders, Shareef Miller and others. While it’s likely that most get their chance at the NFL, those that don’t might have a jumpstart to another career.
