Drew Brees is still performing at a high level in the NFL, but the star QB for the New Orleans Saints declined to make any comment on his future following Sunday’s loss.

By most measures, Brees was outplayed by Minnesota’s starting QB and ex-Michigan State star Kirk Cousins in the game. Brees had a couple of costly mistakes but played better after halftime to come back and force overtime.

The long-time QB and NFL record-holder did miss time this year with a thumb injury, but he still returned to action and posted an 8-3 record in games he played this season. In those 11 games, Brees threw for nearly 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns. However, he will turn 41 in 10 days leading some to speculate about the possibility of Brees stepping away this offseason.

He declined to get into detail about that after the game:

“I’m not making any comments on that, other than I’ve told you guys this for the past couple of years,” said Brees. “I’ve always just taken it one year at a time and re-evaluate each offseason, and then find the things I want to get better at and move on.”

CBS Sports HQ shared the video of Brees’ comments:

Based on that brief response, it sure doesn’t sound like Brees has any thought other than playing in the NFL in 2020. However, it is still incredibly early with the season coming to an end on Sunday. It will be interesting to see what Brees decides after time to evaluate and decompress from another long season.
