Purdue is off to a blazing hot start in 2020.

By now, fans are well-aware of the comeback win over Iowa fueled by the huge day from David Bell. Bell powered the Boilermakers in that game with 13 catches, over 120 yards, and three touchdowns. That included a game-winning touchdown with two minutes to go.

In Week 2, Bell went off once again. He finished with nine catches for 122 yards and one touchdown. He had a couple of clutch catches, including one that battled through pass interference and the key first down catch to ice the win.

With another 100-yard performance, Bell now has five straight games with 100 yards going back to 2019. That makes Bell the first player in Boilermaker history to reach 100 yards in five consecutive games. By comparison, Rondale Moore does not have more than two games straight with 100 yards receiving.

For the team as a whole, Purdue moved to 2-0 with the win against Illinois. That is significant with the B1G West shifting once again into a wide-open division. Beyond that, it is the first time since 2007 that Purdue has started the season 2-0.

How far can the Boilermakers go this season? Time will tell, but it is certainly an exciting start to 2020.
