A Purdue defensive lineman has decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

Rivals.com is reporting that KJ Stokes has entered his name into the portal and will explore his options outside of West Lafayette. A member of the 2018 recruiting class, Stokes played in just two games with the Boilermakers over three seasons.

Stokes, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound native of Millbrook, Alabama, joined Purdue’s program in 2018 but did not play until the 2020 season. Both of his appearances game last year but he did not record any statistics.

As a high school recruit, Stokes was a 3-star talent and ranked as the No. 67 weak-side defensive end for his class. He was a Top 40 prospect out of Alabama, per 247Sports Composite.

Stokes will still have three years of eligibility to use at his next destination and will be immediately eligible for the 2021 season.

The news of Stokes comes the same day as it was reported that offensive lineman Mark Stickford is retiring from football. The senior suffered an injury that required surgery during spring practice and has stepped away from the game.

Stickford appeared in 10 games for the Boilermakers during his career, making eight starts.
