Purdue may be adding another defensive player to the roster via transfer.

Over the weekend, UAB transfer defensive tackle Tony Fair released a list of three schools he’s still considering as potential landing spots to continue his career. Purdue was included in that Top 3, along with SEC programs Ole Miss and Auburn.

Fair spent the past two seasons at UAB after transferring in from Pima Community College. He was an honorable mention All-C-USA selection following the 2019 season, totaling 36 tackles, 5 for loss, a sack and forced a pair of fumbles. Last season, he appeared in all nine games for the Blazers and posted 21 stops with 3 tackles for loss and a sack.

Before arriving at UAB, Fair was at Pima Community College for two years and racked up 144 tackles and 10.5 stops for loss. At his next destination, he’ll have one year of eligibility remaining.

Purdue has added a handful of defensive players to the roster via the transfer portal this offseason. So far, the Boilermakers have received commitments from defensive linemen Joseph Anderson (South Carolina), Damarjhe Lewis (Indiana), linebacker Octavius Brothers (Auburn) and defensive back C.J. McWilliams (Florida).

The Boilers ended the 2020 season with a 2-4 record.
