Purdue has received a verbal commitment from its first offensive line prospect of the 2022 recruiting class. The news came late Saturday night.

Cross Watson, a 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle out of Portage Michigan became the third member of the Boilermakers’ 2022 class. He made his announcement with a post on Twitter.

“First, I would like to thank my parents for the countless sacrifices throughout this process. I’d also like to thank all of my coaches, teammates, and my trainer for pushing me to be the athlete I am today,” Watson wrote. “I appreciate all of the coaches and recruiters that have reached out to me during this process and with that I’m excited to announce my commitment to Purdue!”

Watson does not have any ratings at this time in the 247Sports Composite scores, but he is listed as a 3-star lineman by the website. He is ranked as one of the Top 50 overall players from the state of Michigan in 2022 class.

Nearly 20 schools offered Watson on the recruiting trail. He committed to the Boilers over offers at the FBS level from Air Force, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Marshall, UMass, Navy, Toledo and Western Michigan.

Purdue now has three verbal commits in the 2022 class, ranking No. 13 in the B1G and No. 69 nationally.
