Elijah Sindelar’s spring season is over.

On Saturday afternoon, Tom Dienhart of Gold and Black Illustrated reported that the Purdue quarterback “tweaked” his knee and will shut it down for the remainder of the spring season. There were no details about the extent of the injury, though it was mentioned that it was the same knee Sindelar injured in 2017.

Purdue’s spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 6.

Sindelar played in the first two games for the Boilermakers last season, starting in both. But Purdue’s sluggish start and a later injury left Sindelar on the sideline for the remainder of the year. He ended his season completing 26-of-44 passes for 283 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

In 2017, Sindelar was a huge part of Purdue’s success in the first year under Jeff Brohm. He rotated with quarterback David Blough and was the primary quarterback after Blough sustained an injury late in the season.

Sindelar played the final stretch of the 2017 season on an injured ACL injury. He threw for 2,099 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven touchdowns as the Boilermakers ended the year 7-6.
