The Disney Spirit Award is easily the best award presented at the College Football Awards Show. It honors courage, community and strength. This year, there was no one who better defined those characteristics that Purdue graduate and super fan Tyler Trent.

Trent has become the face of strength under the most difficult of circumstances. Battling cancer, the Boilermaker has continued to share his story and spread his message. He’s helping push cancer research forward and doing it with a positive attitude and a smile on his face.

On Thursday night, Trent was presented as the winner of the Disney Spirit Award. He was accompanied by his family, Purdue quarterback David Blough and head coach Jeff Brohm at The Home Depot College Football Awards Show. In front of a national audience, he had the opportunity to share his story one more time.

Appropriately, Trent received a standing ovation for all that he’s done in the Purdue and college football communities. But his message, and his strength, has stretched far beyond that.

Here’s the emotional and touching presentation of the Disney Spirit Award from Thursday night:

Trent has easily been the most inspiring story of the college football season and the work he’s done has touched so many lives.

Following his appearance on the College Football Awards Show, Trent had an opportunity to stop by and visit the NBA on TNT group, Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith.

It was a busy night for Trent, and one that nobody will forget.
