Toughness is a point of pride at any level of football. Players don’t like to be labeled as soft.

But on Friday, one former B1G player was knocked for his lack of toughness.

After catching word that Leonte Carroo might be cut by the Miami Dolphins, the former Rutgers wide receiver was accused by Jeff Risdon of RealGM.com of not being a “football player.”

The reason?

According to Risdon, people from Rutgers told him that Carroo refused to play in a 2015 contest against Michigan because he didn’t want to line up against Jourdan Lewis.

Here’s what Risdon tweeted out on Friday:

Carroo was ruled out of the contest back in 2015 because of an ankle injury he sustained a few weeks prior to the game. It was the second-straight game he missed that season, sitting out against Wisconsin the previous week.

Allegedly, the injury had nothing to do with Carroo’s absence, though. Because Lewis was such an elite defender during his time at Michigan, it’s easy to see how the Rutgers receiver could’ve seen his draft stock plummet if he didn’t perform well.

The news of Carroo potentially getting cut by the Dolphins is significant because the team traded third-round, fourth-round and six-round picks to acquire Carroo from the Minnesota Vikings in 2016.

Carroo played in eight games in his senior campaign, catching 39 passes for 809 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2014, he was the B1G’s second-leading receiver with 1,086 yards and 10 touchdowns on 55 receptions.

He was a third round pick in the 2016 draft, going No. 86 overall.
