Rutgers fans can now prepare for homecoming events as the team announced Michigan State will be its homecoming opponent on Oct. 14.

The Scarlett Knights, trying to improve on last year’s 4-8 effort, begin the season with a new offensive coordinator in Kirk Ciarrocca who will look to develop quarterbacks Evan Simon and Gavin Wimsatt, as they’re the only quarterbacks on the Rutgers roster to have started a game at the Power 5 level.

This will be the 89th homecoming game in program history. The Scarlet Knights are 54-33-1 on homecoming weekend, with the event held every season since 1933, except 1943 and 2020. RU defeated Indiana, 24-17, last season on homecoming.
