Rutgers has added a new wide receiver to its roster via the transfer portal.

This weekend, the Scarlet Knights received a commitment from former Bucknell wide receiver Brandon Sanders, a two-time All-Patriot League selection. He decided to hit the transfer portal following his third season with the program.

Bucknell participated in the FCS’s spring season, which was postponed from fall because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sanders played in all four games and caught 23 passes for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Sanders, a 6-foot, 205-pound junior, played in 23 career games while at Bucknell, bringing a good amount of experience to the Rutgers receivers room. He has hauled in a total of 125 passes for 1,310 yards and 5 touchdowns and has also reached the end zone once on the ground.

In 2019, Sanders tied a school record for single-game receptions, making 14 catches for 122 yards in a matchup against Holy Cross.

With the NCAA granting an additional year of eligibility for football players during the 2020-21 academic year, Sanders will still have two seasons of eligibility remaining at Rutgers. He’ll bring depth and playmaking ability to Piscataway.

The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 3-6 season in 2020 and will be entering the second season of Greg Schiano’s return to the program.
