WATCH: Rutgers botches perfectly executed 'Philly Special' at the goal line
Leave it to Rutgers to find a way to botch a beautiful trick play.
The Scarlet Knights have been on an agonizing slide and are desperate for a win against Penn State. Trailing 13-0 in the third quarter, Rutgers battled its way to a first-and-goal inside the five.
Unfortunately, the Nittany Lions defense stepped up and forced the Knights into a fourth-down play. Digging into the playbook, Rutgers ran its version of the “Philly Special” and ran it to perfection. However, the Knights botched the ending of the play and turned the ball over on downs.
