The FanDuel Sportsbook app is now live in Virginia after it launched unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon. Previous indications signaled the state could potentially launch legal betting ahead of the Super Bowl next month, but the timeline was significantly sped up in recent days.

The FanDuel Sportsbook app led the way in Virginia by becoming the first legal online sportsbook there to go live. It is expected that other rival apps will join a competitive VA online sports betting market in the coming days and weeks.

Dolan told followers the popular sports betting platform would soon be live. Less than 24 hours later, FanDuel Virginia began accepting wagers from the state’s bettors.

FanDuel Virginia Sportsbook App Wins Race for First

With the nation’s 12th largest population, several prestigious in-state college athletics programs and a loyal following of several major pro sports teams, Virginia figures to emerge as an excellent sports betting market.

In time, it will have more than 10 mobile sportsbook apps that will ultimately be live. Such options will include the likes of DraftKings Sportsbook and BetMGM, but for now, there is just one option and it is FanDuel Sportsbook.

FanDuel Sportsbook has emerged as one of the best all-around sports betting apps in the nation and the FanDuel Virginia app will follow suit as a go-to choice for both casual and more serious bettors alike.

A Fast and Furious Start

Last spring, the state of Colorado launched its sports betting operation when sports were largely shutdown because of COVID-19. It made for a less than ideal start given the lack of options for sports bettors. Virginia bettors, however, will not have the same issues.

NBA, NHL, and college basketball schedules are in full gear, while the NFL Playoffs have reached the championship round.

Bettors at FanDuel Virginia will be able to wager on the high-stakes games featuring the Bucs-Packers and Bills-Chiefs on Sunday afternoon and do so with a variety of odds boosts on player and game props.

In fact, new players can grab any of the four teams in action this weekend at 25-1 odds to win reach the Super Bowl.

Speaking of the Super Bowl, the VA launch also comes ahead of Super Bowl 55 and and March Madness, the latter of which is now less than two months away.
