Gary Andersen named head coach at Utah State
Gary Andersen is returning to Utah State.
On Sunday evening, Utah State announced that Andersen will return as head coach of the Aggies, a program he coached previously from 2009-2012. This will be his second stint with the team.
Andersen spent the 2018 as a defensive assistant on the staff at Utah.

Over the last five years, Andersen has bounced around programs without much warning.
Andersen served as the head coach at Wisconsin from 2013-2014 and was 20-7 in two seasons with the Badgers. Following an 10-3 year that resulted in a trip to the B1G Championship Game, Andersen bolted from Madison to take on a floundering Oregon State program.
At Oregon State, Andersen had very little success, winning just seven games in two-and-a-half seasons with the Beavers. He resigned abruptly midway through the 2017 campaign, throwing his assistant coaches and players under the bus in the process.
Utah State has faith that Andersen can continue the success that Matt Wells established over the last few seasons.
Overall, Andersen has a career record of 56-61. He was 26-24 in his first stint at Utah State.
