Lovie Smith isn’t one to raise his voice. Players said before the season that the Illini coach still hadn’t yelled at them.
So when Smith was asked about whether or not Illinois’ costly penalties in Saturday’s loss to Purdue was the result of him being too “lax.”
He didn’t like that:

Rare it is to see Smith show any sign of emotion in a press conference. Perhaps that’s a product of falling to 1-4 with a loss to Purdue.
