In 2015, Iowa used a redshirt on Garbutt. As a redshirt freshman last season, he made an appearance in just three games and recorded a total of three tackles.
Garbutt is a native of Carrollton, Tex., and was an all-district selection out of Hebron High School. He was a three-sport athlete, also competing in track and basketball, according to his bio on Hawkeyesports.com.
There was no announcement about a potential landing spot at this time.
