Three days after Maryland delivered the surprising news that defensive coordinator Scott Shafer stepped down for personal reasons after four months on the job, he reportedly has a replacement.

Scout.com reported that Kentucky outside linebackers coach Andy Buh is set to become the Terps’ new DC.

Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman confirmed the report:

Buh would join a Maryland staff already loaded with defensive minds. D.J. Durkin was Michigan’s DC last year and Mike London joined Maryland’s staff as a defensive line coach after being let go at Virginia, where he was the head coach.

Buh has had plenty of stops, including one with Durkin. He and Durkin were on Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Stanford, where Buh was the team’s defensive coordinator. Following his stint at Stanford, Buh served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Nevada (2010-11).

He was also the linebackers coach at Wisconsin when the Badgers won the B1G Championship in 2012. After that, Buh was the defensive coordinator/linebackers coach at Cal for two years before joining the Wildcats in 2015.

He’ll look to turn around a unit that finished 90th in total defense in 2015.
