Freddy Canteen will experience the other side of the Michigan-Notre Dame rivalry.

The former Wolverines wideout announced his plans to transfer to Notre Dame on Saturday night:

Canteen will have two years of eligibility left, which means that he could play when Michigan and Notre DameĀ meet in 2018.

At Michigan, Canteen’s best days came inĀ 2014. As a true freshman, the former four-star recruit had five catches for 22 yards, including his lone career touchdown against Ohio State.

Canteen fell out of the rotation after Jim Harbaugh arrived in 2015, and he missed all of 2016 with shoulder injuries. He finished his Michigan career with 10 games played and two starts.

Because Canteen is graduating from Michigan in the spring, he’ll be eligible to play immediately for the Irish.
