Just in case Michigan’s 2016 season needed a little more hype, it got some in the form of His Airness.

Jim Harbaugh announced on the Rich Eisen Show that Michael Jordan will be the honorary captain for Michigan’s opener against Hawaii on Sept. 3.

Jordan, of course, was behind Michigan becoming the first football program to be represented by the Air Jordan brand. The Wolverines are in their first year with Nike, which was announced prior to the 2015 season. The deal is worth $169 million over 15 years.

It’s certainly a loud statement to usher in the Nike era. But then again, coming from Harbaugh, would one expect anything less?
