Three Michigan State players facing sexual assault charges

After a lengthy investigation, the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office announced in a release that three Michigan State football players will face sexual assault charges for their roles in the alleged Jan. 16 incident.
The three players involved were accused of sexually assaulting a woman in an East Lansing apartment on MSU’s campus.
Police can now obtain arrest warrants, though the Lansing State Journal reported that wouldn’t happen on Monday.
Those players, who remain unnamed, have been suspended from the team since Feb. 9. It’s unknown when the identities of the players involved will go public now that charges have been authorized.

According to a release from the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office, it will not press charges against the unnamed staff member who “previously worked for Michigan State.”
The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office did not identify the unnamed assistant who was under investigation, but MSU confirmed it was Curtis Blackwell.
The Spartans announced last week that Blackwell did not have his contract renewed after it ended on May 31. Blackwell was suspended on Feb. 9, which was the day the MSU announced the suspensions of the three players and staffer who were under investigation.
