Regardless of what happens in Minnesota’s spring game on Saturday, it was a successful day for Tracy Claeys and the Gophers.

That’s because Minnesota got a commitment from Blaise Andries, who is the top recruit in the state. The Marshall High School product announced his decision via Twitter before Saturday’s spring game:

The three-star recruit is the No. 35 offensive tackle and No. 316 overall in the 247sports composite rankings.

The 6-6, 290-pound offensive tackle had offers from the likes of Florida, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Nebraska, Oregon, Oklahoma Penn State, Wisconsin and more, but elected to keep it local. He visited Minnesota unofficially two weeks ago, and he also took unofficial visits to Michigan State, Northwestern and Wisconsin.

Andries is the first verbal commitment for Minnesota’s 2017 class.
