Pat Fitzgerald had every reason to be unhappy.

He wasn’t pleased with the news that B1G Commissioner Jim Delany decided to have Friday night games starting in 2017. He was even less pleased to find out that his Northwestern squad would have not one, but TWO Friday night games while other B1G teams didn’t have any.

Breathe easy, Fitz. Sanity has been restored.

According to a release, Maryland and Northwestern will no longer be playing on a Friday night. Instead, the two squads will play on Saturday, Oct. 14.

That means that Maryland will no longer have a Friday night game in 2017. Northwestern, on the other hand, will still have a Friday night game against Michigan State on Oct. 27.

There are now five B1G Friday night games in 2017. It remains to be seen if another B1G game will be moved into that Friday night slot on Oct. 13.

Here’s what the schedule looks like with Maryland and Northwestern moved back:

  • Friday, Sept. 1 — Washington vs. Rutgers
  • Friday, Sept. 1 — Utah State vs. Wisconsin
  • Friday, Sept. 8 — Ohio vs. Purdue
  • Friday, Sept. 29 — Nebraska vs. Illinois
  • Friday, Oct. 27 — Michigan State vs. Northwestern
