A native of Dayton, Ohio, Smith was a member of Ohio State’s 2018 recruiting class. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound receiver was ranked as the No. 4 player out of his home state and a top five athlete in his class. Overall, Smith ranked No. 125 in the 2018 class.

Smith was redshirted in his one and only season with the Buckeyes.

Smith was expected to become a critical piece of Ohio State’s receiving corps with his big frame and athletic ability. But it appears Columbus wasn’t a good fit for him.

He’ll likely be a coveted target in the transfer portal over the coming weeks.
