Ohio State found itself in its fair share of recruiting battles with Florida State over the last few years.

This time, the Buckeyes won out.

They picked up a commitment from four-star linebacker Teradja Mitchell, who announced his pledge to OSU over the Seminoles on Friday night.

Mitchell is the No. 2 inside linebacker and the No. 38 player overall in the 2018 class. The Virginia Beach, Va. native is the No. 2 prospect in the state, according to the 247sports composite.

With offers from seemingly every program in the country, Mitchell went with the Buckeyes nearly two months after he took an unofficial visit to Columbus. He joined four-star recruit Dallas Gant as the second blue-chip linebacker to join the class.

Mitchell’s verbal pledge meant that Ohio State now has commitments from six recruits rated in the top 40 of the 247sports composite.

The Buckeyes have the No. 2 class nationally in the 247sports rankings, which is second only to Miami (FL).
