Three teams from the B1G East are ranked in the top eight of the most recent poll released by the Associated Press.

If you ask Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, that’s not by mistake.

During the weekly B1G coachesĀ teleconference on Tuesday, Meyer was asked what he thought about the division have three teams ranked in the top eight and five teams from the conference getting into the AP polls.

“I’m not surprised at all. I think our conference is very strong right now,” he said. ” Our division has to be one of the strongest, if not the strongest in college football.”

There’s a lot of validity to Meyer’s statement, as the Buckeyes sit at No. 2, Michigan ranks No. 4, and Michigan State climbed to No. 8 in the Week 4 poll. All three teams are undefeated.

Maryland and Indiana are the two other teams that remain unbeaten in the division and Rutgers and Penn State each sit at 2-1 through three weeks.

Wisconsin ( No. 11) and Nebraska (No. 20) are the other B1G teams in the AP top 25.

The B1G has received a lot of coverage this past weekend, notching some impressive wins. Some are even starting to believe that the conference could wind up getting two teams into the College Football Playoff.

That’d be some nice validity for Meyer’s statement on Tuesday.
