Nate Meyer, son of Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, is going to follow in his father’s footsteps.

On Monday, Nate released a tweet stating that he has committed to play baseball at the University of Cincinnati. Urban, of course, was a defensive backĀ on the Bearcats’ football team in the mid 1980s.

What you may not have known was that Urban was also baseball player in his prime, being drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 1982 and playing in the minor leagues with the organization for two seasons.

Unlike his dad, though, it appears that Nate will be just a one-sport athlete while at Cincinnati.

According to Eleven Warriors, Nate plays shortstop at Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus.

If Nate does decide to give college football a try, he’s got a pretty good connection as former Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell is now the head coach of the Bearcats.

And the Buckeyes and Cincinnati will only meet once in the next four seasons, a September bout in 2019.
