Recruiting stories run rampant this time of year, and unfortunately for Penn State, the Nittany Lions just ended up on the wrong side of a recruit flipping to another school.

Dylan Rivers, a four-star ranked the No. 15 outside linebacker in the Class of 2017 by 247 Sports, announced his switch to Virginia Tech this afternoon:

Rivers, of Stephens City, Va., ultimately decided to stay in state with his decision. The 6-foot-2 linebacker’s decision may not have come as a surprise to the Nittany Lions, as another four-star linebacker, Ellis Brooks, was just offered a scholarship by James Franklin’s team.

Interestingly enough, outside of sharing the linebacker position, Brooks is also from the state of Virginia. Brooks is ranked as the No. 10 overall player in the state, while Rivers is the No. 8-rated player.
