James Daniels selected No. 39 overall by Chicago Bears
Former Iowa center James Daniels was selected No. 39 overall by the Chicago Bears in Thursday night’s NFL Draft.
Daniels, the Warren, Ohio, native, was a preseason All-American and preseason All-Big Ten selection in 2017. He followed his brother, LeShun Daniels, Jr., to Iowa from the state of Ohio, and he saw playing time immediately as a freshman in 2015, playing left guard. The coaching staff moved Daniels to center in 2016, and he was named a third-team All-Big Ten performer.
At 6-foot-3 and 306 pounds, Daniels possesses great movement for his size, and he should make an impact rather quickly in the NFL.
Exiting high school, Daniels was rated a 4-star prospect, and he was ranked as the country’s No. 6 overall center and the state’s No. 18 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
