It’s early, but what’s the offseason without some Heisman Trophy chatter?

For the B1G, that chatter looks like it’ll be more interesting this year than usual. The conference hasn’t won college football’s top individual honor since 2006, but there appears to be several worthy candidates heading into 2017.

Bovada released its early Heisman Trophy odds, which had three B1G players in the top seven.

Here was what the oddsmakers drew up for the early Heisman candidates:

J.T. Barrett came in just behind early favorite Baker Mayfield with 6-1 odds while Saquon Barkley and Trace McSorley weren’t far behind in a tie for fifth with 10-1 odds.

It’s worth noting that Barkley was listed higher than any non-quarterback. The second non-quarterback listed was LSU tailback Derrius Guice, who had 15-1 odds.

Barkley and McSorley could wind up competing against each other for B1G and national awards. Barkley already shared the Chicago Tribune’s Silver Football Award with Barrett in 2016.

Perhaps they’ll battle for a national award next.
