Illinois’ top remaining target was a big one.

Four-star East St. Louis (Ill.) receiver Jeff Thomas initially ruled out the likes of Alabama and Mizzou and kept in-state Illinois as a finalist. Then Thomas went off in the Under Armour All-America Game and his market opened up.

Late on Thursday night, Thomas announced a final three. That final three didn’t include Illinois:

All three schools made a late push to land the No. 6 receiver in the 2017 class. His Oregon interest changed when Willie Taggart took over the program and he became more intrigued about the possibility of catching passes from Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson at Louisville.

Miami (FL) is the new 247sports crystal ball favorite at 76 percent, a spot which belonged to Illinois until recently. He’s scheduled to take an official visit there this weekend.

With National Signing Day less than two weeks away, Illinois won’t have much time to make a last-ditch pitch to change Thomas’ mind. He hinted that he’ll announce before signing day.

But as Thomas showed the past month, things can change in a hurry.
