Another day, another defensive back is reportedly transferring from Michigan State.

According to reports from MLive.com and ESPN.com, safety Kenney Lyke is transferring from MSU. He’ll reportedly transfer to Mississippi Delta Community College next semester.

Lyke told MLive that he plans on staying there for one semester before “most likely” transferring to Ole Miss. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.

According to MLive, Lyke said that he fell one credit short of keeping his eligibility for the following semester at MSU.

In his first and only season at MSU, Lyke played in three games and totaled one tackle. The Fremd High School (Ill.) star was the No. 9 recruit in the state of Illinois in 2016.

The news of Lyke’s departure came a day after the Spartans confirmed that two-way player Kaleel Gaines was no longer with the team.

Including NFL draft picks Malik McDowell and Montae Nicholson, the Spartans lost seven underclassmen defenders since the end of the 2016 season.

Auston Robertson was kicked off the team after he was charged with sexual assault while Drake Martinez and Jon Reschke transferred for different reasons.
