Minnesota has landed a wide receiver from the West Coast.

Sunday morning, Ryan Burns of 247Sports reported that Randal Grimes, a former USC receiver, committed to the Golden Gophers after an official visit this weekend. He was a member of the Trojans’ 2017 recruiting class.

Grimes decided to leave USC following the conclusion of the 2018 season.

Grimes played in six games at USC. He was a former 3-star prospect in the 2017 recruiting class and was ranked as the No. 23 athlete in the cycle.

Minnesota’s 2019 recruiting class ranks 37th nationally and eighth in the B1G. Grimes will be a nice addition to a solid receiving group in Minneapolis.

The Gophers endured some struggles throughout the 2018 season but put things together in the final month of the regular season, winning two of its final three games to finish 6-6 and earn bowl eligibility. They knocked off Purdue and Wisconsin in November.

Minnesota also posted a convincing win over Georgia Tech in the Quick Lane Bowl to finish the season 7-6.
