Last weekend, Tommy Armstrong was full of good news.

The former Nebraska quarterback told the Pioneer Press that after a weekend of rookie minicamp, the Minnesota Vikings wanted him to come back and play safety.

Unfortunately for Armstrong, that won’t be the case after all.

He tweeted on Thursday night that he won’t get another shot to make the Vikings’ 53-man roster:

Armstrong has been a bit all over the place since playing his final game as a quarterback.

The former four-year starting quarterback worked out at wide receiver and running back during the pre-draft process. The Vikings moved him to safety — he hadn’t played the position since high school — on his final day of camp last weekend.

By all accounts, Armstrong handled the adjustment just fine. It remains to be seen what or where he’ll play next.

At the very least, Armstrong showed he’s willing to do anything to make an NFL roster.
