Malik Hooker’s stock was too high to stay at Ohio State.

The All-American defensive back made the inevitable announcement that he’s forgoing his remaining eligibility and entering the 2017 NFL draft.

He made the announcement via Twitter:

Hooker projects as one of the top defensive backs off the board by multiple outlets.

His breakout 2016 season saw him record a B1G-best seven interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns.

In his first season as a starter, Hooker helped lead one of the top units in the country. The Buckeye defense finished 2016 ranked fifth in total defense and seventh in passing yards allowed.

Hooker was the first Buckeye underclassman to announce his intentions to leave school early. Last year, the Buckeyes had nine players leave early for the draft.
