Rare is it that Bill Belichick shows love to anyone or anything after a game. That’s why what the Patriots coach did on Saturday night was special.

Taking care of the Houston Texans in a divisional round playoff game didn’t stand out. The way it happened did.

Brock Osweiler was intercepted by three different Patriots, all of whom were former Rutgers standouts (Devin McCourty, Logan Ryan and Duron Harmon).

If there’s ever been three different players from one school get an interception in a playoff game, it’s unknown.

That prompted Belichick to show the Scarlet Knights some love:

“Big day for Rutgers,” Belichick said of the former Knights. “They all had interceptions. You love to see that. You love to see that for anybody, but when you have three of them, that was big.”

Belichick has long had a history of drafting Rutgers players, so Saturday night was no coincidence. The Patriots currently have four Rutgers alums on their roster.

Another Rutgers alum shined in the NFL playoffs on Saturday. Mohammed Sanu caught a touchdown pass in the Falcons’ victory against the Seahawks.
