A great weekend on the recruiting trail has gotten even better for Minnesota.

On Sunday afternoon, the Gophers received a verbal pledge from top 25 junior college defensive tackle Keonte Schad. He made his announcement via Twitter.

Schad becomes the 22nd player to commit to Minnesota in 2019 recruiting class. He’s one of the top prospects in the Gophers’ incoming class.

Schad attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa last season. He’s ranked as one of the 25 best junior college players of the 2019 recruiting class.

Minnesota’s recruiting class ranks 34th nationally and eighth in the B1G.

Also over the weekend, the Gophers received commitments from 4-star defensive tackle Rashad Cheney and 3-star cornerback Damarion Williams.
