Marvin Harrison Jr. is keeping Ohio State’s string of first-round wide receivers rolling, coming off the board early in Thursday’s 2024 NFL Draft.

Entering the first round, Harrison was the heavy favorite to be the first non-quarterback player selected. He ultimately went to the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 4 overall pick.

As a top-5 selection, Harrison becomes the highest-drafted receiver in Buckeye history. The previous highest-drafted wide receiver out of Ohio State was Terry Glenn, the No. 7 overall pick by the New England Patriots in 1996.

Overall, Harrison is the sixth Ohio State receiver to become a top-10 pick in the draft. He joins Terry Glenn, Joey Galloway, David Boston, Ted Ginn Jr. and Garrett Wilson.

Harrison also keeps Ohio State’s string of first-round receivers going for another season, extending the streak to 3 drafts. Since the 2022 NFL Draft, the Buckeyes have seen Wilson, Chris Olave, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba all selected in the first round.

The son of former Indianapolis Colts star and NFL Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison Sr., the younger Harrison showed his stock as a top-5 pick during the 2022 season and continued that trend this past fall as the 2023 Biletnikoff Award winner. With a prototypical blend of size, speed and catch radius, Harrison has all the makeup to be a dynamic No. 1 receiver at the next level.

Even as he made the controversial choice to avoid pre-draft testing, Harrison’s stock remained elite, largely due to his on-field game film and well-renowned work ethic. That game film shows everything scouts want to know, including his body control, top-end speed, and ability to deliver yards after the catch.

Now, Harrison will get to work with his new team with every expectation to be a plug-and-play option as a rookie.
