Hightower has not yet announced this news.
He was a member of Michigan State’s 2020 recruiting class. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he was the No. 44 outside linebacker in the country for that cycle.
Hightower redshirted in 2020, playing only on kickoff duty in one game (vs. Ohio State) according to his Michigan State bio.
He’s originally from Akron, Ohio, and attended Archbishop Hoban High School. He chose the Spartans over offers from Pittsburgh, Iowa, Indiana and others.
Michigan State has had a large amount of turnover this offseason. Earlier this month, coach Mel Tucker said he expects to have at least 33 newcomers on scholarship next season. With Hightower’s exit, that number could rise to 34.
The Spartans have had 27 players enter the transfer portal since November, according to MLive.com’s Matt Wenzel.
