Jim Harbaugh needed to move quickly when finding Maurice Linguist’s replacement, and he did exactly that. Just a few days after Linguist was named the head coach at Buffalo, Michigan hired Steve Clinkscale away from Kentucky.

Clinkscale will be the defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator with the Wolverines, the same titles he held in Lexington.

On Friday, contract details were released for Clinkscale, who signed a three-year deal with Michigan. He will receive a base salary of $600,000 with bonus incentives.

If Michigan finishes in the Top 25 nationally in pass defense, Clinkscale will see his salary bumped up to $700,000 and he will receive the title of co-defensive coordinator. More details were shared by Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News:

Michigan is coming off a 2-4 season in 2020, forcing Harbaugh to make multiple staff changes in the offseason. The addition of Clinkscale comes after the Wolverines completed spring practice.

There have been a lot of moving parts in Ann Arbor during the offseason.
