Maryland is losing one of its frontcourt players and a key contributor from the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament team.

Forward Jairus Hamilton, a 6-foot-8 junior, previously entered the transfer portal to examine his opportunities. On Friday, Jon Rothstein with CBS Sports reported he is transferring, selecting Western Kentucky out of Conference USA as his destination.

Hamilton appeared in all 31 games this past season for the Terrapins with five starts. Despite coming off the bench for much of the season, Hamilton averaged over 20 minutes per game and finished sixth on the team in scoring at 6.5 points per game.

Hamilton also averaged 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 48% from the floor. He proved effective at spacing the floor, shooting 43% from deep.

This past season was Hamilton’s lone year with the Terps. He began his career with two seasons at Boston College after coming out of high school as a four-star recruit and the No. 75 player nationally for the class of 2018.

Best of luck to Hamilton as he looks to continue his career elsewhere.
